Privacy
Private and local-only
SelfCairn stores journal data locally on your device. It requires no account and has no backend, journal sync, analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking SDKs. FromTheShower cannot access your journal.
Information stored on your device
Free-form entries, check-ins, therapy notes, medication logs, time capsules, and app settings stay on your device. Device backups may include SelfCairn data according to the Apple backup settings you control.
Full JSON backup and restore
A backup is created only when you explicitly choose Back up now. SelfCairn creates a full JSON backup and lets you choose its destination, including Files or iCloud Drive. You can restore that file in SelfCairn or use it to move your journal to another device. This is a manual transfer, not cross-device journal sync.
Dictation
Dictation starts only when on-device speech recognition is available. SelfCairn does not fall back to server transcription. Audio is not retained; only text that you choose to save in an entry is stored.
Local notifications
Medication reminders and time-capsule notifications are local device notifications. They are scheduled and delivered by iOS according to the permissions and settings you control.
Optional support purchase
SelfCairn is free and nothing is paywalled. If you choose the optional one-time support purchase, Apple processes the transaction. FromTheShower does not receive your payment-card details.
Retention and deletion
Entries and optional logs remain until you delete them. Removing SelfCairn removes its local app data. Exported JSON files and device backups are separate copies that you must delete from their respective destinations or Apple backup settings. FromTheShower has no server copy to retain or delete.

SelfCairn is not a medical device, therapist, diagnostic service, or crisis service. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you are in danger or crisis, contact local emergency services or an appropriate crisis resource.
Support communications
If you contact support, FromTheShower receives only the information you choose to send. Do not email journal entries, medication details, therapy notes, passwords, payment information, or other sensitive content.
